Anafi is a small Greek island located east of Santorini. With an area of 40 square kilometers and roughly 270 inhabitants, Anafi makes a beautiful stop for those who wish for calm vacations away from the crowds. Anafi has a limited road network but has all the elements that make it ideal for a boat trip. Golden sandy beaches, turquoise waters, unexplored caves, and numerous hiking pathways, all offer endless tranquility. When you arrive in Anafi, you will come across the main highlight, the one and only town of the island, Chora. Built at an altitude of approximately 200 meters, Chora creates a beautiful setting with lovely churches, white dome-roofed houses, and small squares that create a pure Cycladic character. You can stroll through the town and learn that much has been unaffected by the passing of time. The windmills, flowery courtyards, and marvelous Venetian castle stand out and remain intact. According to mythology, Anafi emerged from the sea and was a hideaway refuge spot for Argonauts who crossed the Aegean. Anafi shares a similar landscape to Santorini, due to the volcanic activity in the area. In the eastern part, you can have impressive views of the Aegean Sea by hiking up the monolithic rock known as Kalamos. This is the second-highest rock in the Mediterranean, after Gibraltar. You might like to visit the temple of Apollo and the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigis at the foot of the rock.

Overall, Anafi is perfect for those who seek authentic vacations. For those who are looking to take a break away from the more developed islands, a boat rental trip to Anafi offers a quiet escape.

A full-day cruise to Anafi can be spent exploring the beautiful sandy beaches and rocky coastlines. The busiest part of Anafi is its port, the best way to circumnavigate the island in complete privacy is to hire a speedboat or motorboat. Mega Potamos forms a long sandy coast and has fantastic views of Mount Kalamos. Situated at the mouth of a stream, you may also visit Roukonasis, the largest and most popular beach on the island. Klisidi and the neighboring coves of Katsouni and Flamourou are isolated spots, ideal for relaxation and swimming. Agioi Anargyroi is a picturesque beach near the homonymous chapel, legend says whoever swims there will soon get married!

Anafi also offers the opportunity to enjoy a private day cruise from Santorini. Santorini is one of the most famous and cosmopolitan islands in Greece and only 16 nautical miles away.
