Korčula is the greenest island in the Adriatic, known for its picturesque old town, also rumored to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Before you begin your epic sailing adventure in Korčula, you cannot miss the chance to explore the old town, filled with old houses, palaces, churches, and town walls. Often compared to the walled city of Dubrovnik, Korčula’s main draw card is its gray stone houses and medieval buildings that have a distinctly Venetian flair. The splendid cathedral of Svelte Marko (St Mark's Cathedral) features ornate columns, incredible stonework, and Renaissance-style reliefs that make it a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Korcula town is also home to local food restaurants and bars that are known all over Croatia. They occasionally offer white and red wines with tapas. Six km away from the city of Korcula, you will find Lumbarda, a settlement surrounded by large vineyards and a small, protected bay. The life of Dalmatian traders and fishermen depended heavily on the building materials Lumbarda used for wooden ships. Lumbarda currently offers a marina, several restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels for guests, making it a remarkable opportunity to spend the night.

Korčula was colonized by the Greeks from the small town of Kindos (documents from Lumbarda prove it, resulting in 200 names of Greek families who claim territory in Croatia). There is also a legend that describes how the town was founded by Antenor, a warrior who led fugitives after the fall of Troy. A hundred years later, Korčula was controlled by the Romans, who wanted to extend their empire to Mljet, Lastovo, and Peljesac. Later on, we see a great clash of powers between Venetians and Turks, followed by the war strokes of Napoleon with the Russians. Despite being disturbed by various great powers throughout the centuries, Korčula is one of the best-preserved urban complexes in the Adriatic today and has kept its basic urban style throughout the town. Once you have devoted a day or afternoon to the town, it is time for you to travel up to the coast and rent a boat in Korcula to explore the surrounding sparkling waters of the Adriatic.

With a private boat trip in Korčula, you can spend a few days visiting the islands that encircle Korčula. The archipelago features numerous hidden beaches and offers plenty of opportunities for swimming and snorkeling. The island of Vrnik, Stupe, and Badija, for example, are excellent spots to set anchor. Vrbnik is well known for its deep, stone quarries and has a lot of secluded swimming spots. Badija is the largest island in the archipelago and features a Franciscan Monastery. Passing by the channel’s uninterrupted views, you will find the waters are very clean and suitable for sunbathing. For some extra options for your boat tours in Korčula, Przina beach, Bacva Beach, and Pupnatska beach are great choices to take up a good spot with your yacht and enjoy swimming.

You can rent a boat in Korčula and enjoy a day cruise to Mljet, the most forested island in the Adriatic. The Mljet National Park is a large area that connects boats from both sides with a small lake called Sveta Marija. A cruise through the park with your motorboat or catamaran will allow you to take in the peaceful natural surroundings. On the eastern tip of the island, you can swim in the sandy beaches of a large bay known as Saplunara, sheltered from the Bura and Mistral winds. Your tour in Mljet can also be combined with Cavtat and Dubrovnik. Cavtat has fantastic local restaurants, bars, and water sports activities. The Elaphite islands are wonderful sailing spots that rest between Mljet and Dubrovnik. You can therefore plan the perfect 3-day or 4-day cruise and visit them too. Arriving in the harbor of Dubrovnik, you can greet the day with a walk in the city walls and admire the views over a sumptuous Adriatic meal. Southern Croatia is generally a superyacht hotspot, with some of the Mediterranean’s top party destinations. By hiring a luxury catamaran or motor yacht, you can appreciate the history and scenery, take in panoramic views, and even have an unforgettable wedding day. Supetar, Lastovo, and Hvar are ideal locations for such special itineraries.

By renting a sailboat in Korčula, you can also embark on an exciting adventure to Split. On your way there, you can make stops at Hvar, Komiza, and Vis. The beauty in navigating all the islands is that you will find quiet anchorages, nature reserves, and have the chance to anchor by the coast to visit beautiful palaces, fortresses, and towns. Most of the owners on our platform reserve the right to alter the itinerary without prior notice, allowing our guests to select their favorite yacht and plan their preferred sailing route and duration of activities.
