Karpathos has several picturesque marinas where you can easily find the ideal sailboat of your choice. You can directly contact the owners of the vessels or simply allow a BednBlue travel expert to guide you with some suggestions.
You have plenty of options:
You can book and hire a sailboat with a skipper, or without, if you own a license and enjoy a one-day cruise to the islet of Saria. You can also rent a sailboat to explore various beaches you desire around the coastline on a half-day trip. Finally, you can hire a luxury sailboat and visit Kasos, Rhodes, and many more beautiful islands in the Dodecanese complex for as many days as you wish.
Karpathos is a peaceful island in the Dodecanese complex. It offers a sense of privacy to many guests who want to discover the hidden gems of the Aegean Sea. The capital of Karpathos is Pigadia, which functions as the commercial center of the island. It features various amenities, a natural harbor, nightlife, and dining options. If you are visiting Rhodes or Crete, you must definitely organize a private charter to explore Karpathos.
A sailing trip in Karpathos can be spent exploring the spectacular beaches that fill the unique coastline. From Pigadia, situated on the east side of the island, you will come across many pebbled coves and small inlets. One of the best beaches in Karpathos is Apella. A secluded yet scenic cove forms, and azure waters emanate side-to-side along with lush pine trees. With a sailboat, you can enjoy moments of relaxation and tranquility in this secluded slice of paradise. You also have the option to rent a sailboat and dedicate a day to Amoopi Bay and Kyra Panagia. Starting from Pigadia, Amoopi is within easy reach, offering beautiful coves and shallow waters. A little further is Kyra Panagia. Here you can swim and treat yourself at a traditional seaside tavern.
Afoti, Forokli, and Ahata are some other well-known beaches accessible from Pigadia. Pigadia is the island’s main harbor, though not all boats depart from here. Karpathos forms two circles with charming seaside settlements and mountainous villages. Menetes in the south, Mesohori in the center, and Olympos on the north-west side all merge together harmoniously. Diafani, for example, is located in the village of Olympos and is ideal for sailing trips to Saria island. Finiki is another seaside village that is ideal for sailing excursions to the island of Kasos, which you might like to visit.
Saria is an inhabited island divided by a channel called “steno” and is only accessible by boat. Here you will enjoy swimming in crystal clear waters in the so-called “Troulakas” sea cave. Palatia is another beach within easy reach, where you can make pleasant stops and enjoy hiking through a gorge to complete a wonderful day cruise. You can also combine trips from Karpathos to Kasos. A sailing adventure from Karpathos to Kasos and ending in Crete is an exclusive itinerary. We recommend you hire a sailboat with a skipper since the winds can get quite strong in the southern Dodecanese. The Carpathian Sea is a name given to this authentic corner of the complex formed by Karpathos and Kasos as you approach Crete. You also have the option to enjoy island-hopping on a catamaran to Armathia and Meganisi near Kasos. Cruising to Rhodes and Tilos is also an option. As you sail, you will explore breathtaking bays and encounter the natural wonders of Greece with their own hidden story behind them. Finally, Karpathos may seem like a Greek island situated in the far-flung corners of Greece, but it is an unspoiled destination you can always visit when exploring the Dodecanese Islands.
